The Book Is A Real Thing

It is at its peak of realness

A lot of orange

And then it will fade, as the vast majority of books do, even bestsellers and critical darlings, because books fade, art fades and only a very few hang on and become cultural artifacts.

(Much like the Existential concept of “freedom,” a book is at its peak as a product the day it is released.)

It’s just true.

Seen in the wild, at Montreal’s Drawn&Quarterly, and in good company

Anyhow, the book is out there. If you are a fiction reader (and that is not something I take for granted and shouldn’t), then give it a shot.

I apologize for the state of my appearance

Some people already have.

Just to be clear, this is from my friend, and proof of his friendship

And to my fellow Canadians, Happy Thanksgiving. We have much to be thankful for. We also have more work to do to ensure that everyone can share in our bounty.

About last night…..
