I go through these puppies like Godzilla stomping on buildings

I have a book coming out. Probably in spring 2024. I can’t say much more about it until the publisher announces the thing but there you have it. I excerpted some of the early chapters here, long ago (like, a long long long time ago and, given all that has happened in the interim, in a galaxy far far away…). You’ll have to look them up if curious. Given how little I write here they shouldn’t be too hard to find.

The same publisher is evaluating two or three other books. The number is fluid because two of the books are essentially a duology and could very well be released as one book. But that assumes the publisher wants them. Which they may not. Publishing is a business not a charity.

But it’s a bad business, as anyone following the Penguin Random House/S&S merger stuff can tell, and most everyone associated with it knows it’s a bad business, and will continue to be a bad business, even as all the world’s large publishers merge into one (or two) behemoth that will have Stephen King tied to a chair and churning out best sellers attached to an IV drip and then forcing everyone over the age of 8 to read the output. There will be yearly exams. (Kenneth Whyte — a person I don’t always agree with but always find entertaining and…learned— has some great thoughts on the trial in (on?) his Substack.)

The rest of the time, we will be watching truly great storytelling on television, and…
